June 09
June is always an exciting month since many future professional are graduating and many new talents expose us to their fresh and stimulating creations. They are facing a tough market but then again a challenging market which encourages an ever so creative and daring approach to make a difference. We know they will do fine, problem solving is within their nature.
So this month and next will be packed with end of year graduation shows and exhibitions. You can check out the individual colleges but a good place to start is with the Free Range 2009 Art & Design degree shows which over an eight week period shows thousands of students from the UK’s top art and design colleges.
Also watch out for design Prima from the 2nd to the 4th, Cedia expo from the 23rd to the 25th and the in-store show near the end of the month.
I myself will also contribute to the events calendar this month with a small exhibit of some of my new work and I invite any id-sphere visitor to my opening evening of Limited Collection on Friday the 19th in the west of London. Check out the events calendar.
I removed the books section under useful resource. Until there is consistent update it will not reappear. A new “Useful Links” section took his place though. It hosts links about sustainability and ecology, useful services, more industry events and organization links, and a small section on interesting blogs.
The new Wood collection of Rodolfo Dordoni came to London at the new Molteni&C store. I went to the press breakfast, have taken some picture and have put those online in the short notes section.
This month will see an article I am preparing on Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), an exciting digital process to create models and prototypes. Keep an eye out for that, I hope you enjoy.
Remember, you have the power, share your knowledge.
Kind regards,
Lizzy Van Lysebeth
