Hi Lizzy and everyone
I'm desperately looking for a 0.4mm Birch Ply supplier. I have spoken to a few and they all quote me prices of £40+ per 1220 sqmm sheet which is beyond affordable. Their comment was that there is now only one Finnish manufacturer (Koskisen) doing this… yes, ONE, and hence the high price, presumably because of the exclusive market they now control. Makes me think if I should go and start making bendy ply as a business…
Any advices and suggestions welcomed! Thanks.
Eric

Gosh Eric,
0.4mm didn't even know it existed. The smallest I came across is 0.8mm. They tent to be fearly expensive indeed. Why do you need 0.4mm ply? Can't you use just regular 0.5mm veneer?

Hi
Have you tried James Latham, http://www.lathamtimber.co.uk, you may be able to get it as low as £33+VAT a sheet.
Good luck

I think the smallest Latham's only does is 3mm ply. Slec Ltd has 0,4 but it is about 100£ for a 1220X1220.

Info was from Latham's spring 2010 product and price guide. I have since checked with my local branch (Bristol) and I was told that they have limited stock – I think it was at Thurruck, Essex and was quoted £56+VAT per sheet.
Not that this helps – maybe it is worth going into bendy ply production after all.

0.4mm seems awfully thin. Glueing sheets of no more than 0.13mm together. How are they cutting those sheets? I kind of understand not many manufacturers are in to this.
