Very difficult to answer without knowing which style your interior is. A picture would be a great help too.
Contrasting with your floor could be nice but depends a bit what colour your wall and accessories are.

sorry didnt think of that.
at the moment I have cream walls with a large red flower wallpaper on my bay wall.
Im thinking of changing the wallpaper to a more delicate lime green flower as i find the red a little over powering. I have white wooden blinds at the windows, my sofa is golden coffee
colour. i would be buying green rugs and green and cream accessories,

Sounds like bleached oak would be my choice of colour. But again, it is very difficult to make such a suggestion without visual information.

I think light colored furnitures are good match to dark colored flooring. It is ok that the upper color is lighter than the floor.

It's really hard to give some recommendation to you without seeing it..
I think it would be best if you will depend the color of the furniture on the color of you flooring.

I agree with Lizzy. Contrasting the dark wood floor would be nice. Lime green for wall paper would be cool or maybe you would like to consider light blue. However, we don't know exactly what concept you want to create for your living room. Pictures could help!

I'd prefer dark colored wood. They look more elegant and they reflect more light when illuminated.

Have you thought about wooden vertical blinds to compliment the rest of the wood in the room? You can get some really nice laminated wooden vertical blinds now that can be matched up to your flooring etc to match or contrast as you wish.

I think you should go with contrasting furniture as well, or throw some nice carpet on your floor .
Whichever option you choose, the contrast is the key!

Since you have a dark wood flooring, then contrast could be a good option, provided your waal colors and the general interior is of similar colors.
