Hi everyone,

I'm planning on hanging some framed pictures/posters in my living room. I'd like to put colored and black&white pictures in the same room, but I don't if I could do that at all…. Would that be a bad taste?  Maybe I am breaking some interior desingn rules?

Thanks!

It's not so much the colour that matters but more the style of the combined pictures.  If you will try to combine a stylish B&W next to a cheeky coloured family picture that's probably not gonna be a great success.

I think it's good to put a pictureframes or posters even if it's colored and black&white. It's your own choice, it's your own design and it's your own taste. As well as it is refreshing to your eye and you feel comfortable then it's no longer a bad taste.

It really depends. You will not just depend in color but also in style and combination of pics. Search some ideas in the net..

Don't do this, it will ruin all your design. You need to do identical color scale.

I live alone and have made the transition from college to adult life. The old wall posters don't cut it any more…but most of the wall art out there is very feminine. Flowers, flowers and more flowers. Cutesy cottages by a pond. Butterflies and dragonflies bird scales

Adding art to any room can accomplish several objectives. A piece of art can serve as a focal point in a room that lacks character, bring color to a monochromatic space and add rich detail.

I don't think colours are very important aspect. Pay attentions on overall lolk should be tood good. So, put those photo prints which suit to your home.

I decorate my flat mainly with black and white accessories because I love these two color and they actually always fit. Besides this I love to always have a bouquet of fresh flowers because I love the scent. I often use a flower delivery because this is a great opportunity if you want some fresh flowers and do not want to leave the flat. Which is in winter quite often. :-P Besides this I also have some macro shots of plants and flowers in my flat and I think these pictures are very decorative.

The idea of framing pictures will in no way break any design rules. It is a great idea and you can do a lot of experimentation with black and white pictures. Such images can completly change the look and feel of any room.
